Let's Celebrate!

Last night Austin walked in the house and said he had completed his training and had been hired as a Casino Dealer and I had just gotten off the phone from setting up my first photography job!

Naturally, the next step was to take my resident party animals to KOBE to celebrate.

GO AWAY FAY!
Can't you see you are making us CRAZY!

We can all delete "precipitation deficit" from our vocabularies.
Now go look up "Jungle Fever" and learn to use it in a sentence.

Back in the Trenches!

The beauty of Homeschool is that it allows for self motivated learning. Once you love to learn I think it stays with you for life. I feel very good about what Andrew achieved in our home study but he is ready to return to the front lines. Before long he will be able to curse and spit with the best of 'em. Also Austin has been giving him a crash course on the best 'babe magnet moves'. (Something he has been certified to teach since the 3rd grade.) Andrew's response to his first day: "Pretty fun I guess, but I don't know about 5 days a week of this." Sounds like real life to me.

Way Cool!

This is a photo of my brother Doug, his co-pilot and stewardess before they flew President George Bush Sr. to Anchorage Alaska last week. He was on his way to Bejing to watch the Olympics.

We discover a deserted island, claim it as our own, build a shelter and hang out long enough for a storm to kick up and strand us for a bit longer. What a great adventure!

Andrew turns 12!

Seems like we blinked and Andrew is nearly a teen. What a special thing it is to see your child grow into someone you would aspire to be. His gentleness, insight and patience never cease to amaze us. We are all proud of you Andrew. Happy Birthday!

Your Family

She passed!

There is real magic in enthusiasm. It spells the difference between mediocrity and accomplishment.
~ Norman Vincent Peale

Ashley's enthusiasm for her sport has never wavered. Her love of her horses, her determination with her riding and her desire for more knowledge has been the fuel to motivate her toward her chosen profession. I will never forget the day Ralph Hill asked her "What are your goals for your riding?" She answered without hesitation, "I am going to Rolex, just like you."
Yesterday she completed and passed her HB test for Pony Club. It is the second highest knowledge test in Pony Club. On our vacation studied on the train, in the hotel, on the porch at the hotel and in the car. Once home she only left her room to ride, telling all of her friends she wasn't available until after the test. I dragged her to the beach when she started looking puny and she studied on the way.
Ashley's enthusiasm and devotion spelled the difference between mediocrity and accomplishment this weekend and I am very proud of her.
